We’ll continue to feel the effects of Thursday’s storm today as it slowly lifts northward away from New England. On the underside of the departing large weather system, gusty west and northwest winds continue over the area and a pocket of chilly air remains in place. Thankfully, sunshine will prove more prevalent than clouds through the day, allowing temperatures to top out in the upper 40s to around 50F.
Looking off to our west, a ridge axis is shifting eastward and a return flow of air is becoming established. This return flow of air is transporting much warmer weather northward through the nation’s midsection and into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.
This warmth is poised to shift into New England over the next couple of days, finally yielding some spring-like temperatures.
