Tropics Getting Busier

Tropical Storm Gert is gradually becoming better organized off the East Coast as it moves northward parallel to the Eastern Seaboard.

The system is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane in the coming days. Thankfully, the storm will remain well south and east of our region as it recurves out to sea in the week ahead. Locally, the only impact to consider may be some increased wave heights / building swell as the storm pulls into the Northwest Atlantic.

However, we are just now starting the historical climb toward the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season (~September 11th) and there will certainly be additional storms to track in the coming days and weeks.

One such wave in the far eastern tropical Atlantic is expected to slowly organize over the next 3 to 5 days and could be a threat to the Lesser Antilles late in the week.
