October 2017: Above Average Temperatures and Precipitation

October 2017 is in the books and the month closed out well above average both in terms of temperature and precipitation.

Temperatures: At Hyannis, October was 6.3F above the long-term average (59.4 vs 53.1). The coolest temperature recorded in the month was 38F…while the warmest reading was 77F. In all, 11 days saw high temperatures over 70F and there was just 1 day with a high temperature less than 60F (55F on the 17th).

Precipitation: October was another very wet month across the Cape, with many areas seeing between 6 and 8 inches of rain. The total at Hyannis was 8.16″ – which is 4.05″ above the long-term average of 4.11″. The highest one day rainfall total was 4.53″ on October 25th.
