The full moon tides this week combined with powerful north winds and an extremely deep area of low pressure will result in a moderate to major coastal flood event during the midday high tide on Thursday.
Flood guidance is showing a 2 to 3 foot surge. That, on top of tides that among some of the highest of the year and large waves will cause extensive beach erosion and areas of serious inundation sea water. The most vulnerable locations will be the east facing side of the Outer Cape and the inside of Cape Cod Bay – with a particular concern from Brewster to Sandwich where powerful north winds will drive water onshore.
If you live in a spot that is subject to inundation please take the necessary steps to prepare now.
