A strong arctic cold front passed through the region Friday morning, preceded by a bit of rain and followed by a period of snow. Behind the front, temperatures fell into the 20s and readings failed to recover thereafter…holding under 30F through the daylight hours of Friday.
Friday’s cold set the stage for a frigid start to the upcoming weekend. Temperatures in the 10s Friday night will only bounce back to the middle 20s on Saturday and busy northwest winds will create low wind chill values through Saturday morning, adding a noticeable sting to the air.
The good news is, the core of the cold air will begin to depart Saturday afternoon and winds will swing around to the southwest Saturday night and Sunday, yielding a milder second half of the weekend around the region.
