President’s Day and the subsequent school vacation week are going to be an exceptionally mild stretch by February standards. High temperatures will be above 40F for the entire week, overnight lows may not dip below freezing until some time next week and a couple of days in the week ahead will see afternoon readings well into the 50s. In fact, it’s not out of the question that a backyard or two approaches 60F during mid-week.
As for today, President’s Day, anticipate mostly sunny skies gradually yielding to some increasing afternoon cloudiness. The cold frosty early morning will give way to incoming warmth as southerly winds increase through the day. Temperatures will peak between 45 and 50F this afternoon.
A few showers are likely tonight as warmer air continues to build into the region.
