We’ve made it.
Today is the day we get our first real taste of the warm season. Winds have shifted around to the west and southwest and a surge of very warm air is building into the Northeast and New England and will remain in place through the remainder of the week.
Expect temperatures to climb well into the 70s today across just about the entire Cape, with only those spots immediately adjacent to Nantucket Sound and Buzzards Bay holding a bit cooler. In fact, it’s possible that a couple of neighborhoods make a run at 80F for a time early this afternoon!
The only downside to the day will be a strong gusty southwest wind that will take hold as the day progresses. Expect winds to blow at 20 to 25 mph sustained with frequent gusts to 30 to 35 mph.
The high resolution NAM model shows early afternoon temperatures in the 70s to near 80F. Enjoy!
