Low pressure passing just north of the Great Lakes and through Northern New England will swing a series of frontal zones over the Northeast during the day today and into tonight. The first of these fronts, a warm front lifting northward into New England, will pass through our area during the day today. The second boundary, a cold front, will swing across the region tonight.
Today’s incoming warm front provides the best opportunity for picking up some rainfall. The warm front will bring an increase in cloudiness this morning and showers will follow on their heels. Regional radar this morning shows scattered showers and embedded downpours off to our west, with this activity pushing east and northeastward.
Short-range model guidance depicts this activity moving through our area during the early and mid-afternoon hours, then shifting eastward during the late afternoon and evening hours. Some of our available products show pockets of heavier rain and maybe a thunderstorm crossing the Cape and Islands…while other tools keep the worst of the wet weather just south of the area.
Monitor the radar through the day.
