A gusty southwest wind developed late on Monday and persisted through the overnight hours and into Tuesday morning. This southwest wind has been transporting warmer and more humid air into the region. So after enjoying several days of nearly perfect summer weather – tons of sunshine, mild daytime temperatures, cool nights and low humidity – today will feature a more typical summery feel.
Expect afternoon highs ranging from the upper 70s right along the south-facing beaches of Nantucket Sound to the lower and middle 80s elsewhere. And with dew point values climbing back through the 60s it’ll feel increasingly humid through the day. Combined with plenty of strong July sunshine, that’ll make for a rather hot feel to the day.
That said, a cold front will approach the region tonight and pass through the area on Wednesday morning, bringing a return of pleasant weather for the middle and latter half of the work week.
