March is doing March things.
Strengthening low pressure passing very close to the area today will keep clouds and moisture spinning through the region throughout the day and into tonight. While the steadiest and heaviest of the rain is done (we picked up about an inch of rain overnight and first thing this morning) pockets of drizzle and mist will rotate through the area at times today…with a renewed batch of steadier moisture anticipated tonight.
Temperatures will remain on the cold side of things through the day, with readings holding steady in the lower and middle 40s – and a gusty wind adding a raw feel to the air.
Cold air will deepen over Southern New England tonight, sending temperatures down into the 30s as a follow-up wave of moisture spins through the area on the backside of today’s storm center. The unfortunate result will be a transition from rain showers to snow showers and flurries tonight…with a few hours of steady light snow even possible overnight.
Consequently, don’t be surprised to wake up to a dusting or fresh coating of snow around the area Saturday morning.
