Powerful east and southeast winds hammered the Cape overnight, resulting in numerous power outages and plenty of tree and limb damage around the area. A gust to 90 mph was recorded at Provincetown. The damaging easterly wind came in response to a rapidly deepening storm center and an associated “meso-low” that passed very near the Cape overnight.
Not only did the howling wind knock out power and make for a restless night, it piled up water against the shoreline and caused some pockets of coastal flooding.
