Here is a RADAR shot courtesy of Wunderground just before 10PM. The center of Hurricane Earl is clearly visible on the long range radar image from Morehead City.

As of 8PM, Earl is packing winds of 110 mph as he gradually nears the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Heavy rain bands and gusty winds are now moving ashore near Cape Hatteras. Earl will begin to accelerate up the coast tonight, turning northeasterly. The official forecast track by the National Hurricane Center puts Earl just east of Nantucket Friday night. A hurricane warning remains posted for Cape Cod. I wouldn't be surprised to see the official track shifted slightly SE overnight tonight, but overall, I don't see any dramatic changes prior to Earl's arrival. Earl regains Category 4 status

Earl strengthened some this afternoon, as evident by this early evening satellite image.
