Morning Showers

Monday June 29, 2009 05:48 AM

A pesky storm system parked over the Northeastern corner of the country is spinning in place and keeping the weather a bit on the unsettled side. This morning some moisture has rotated around the storm and is actually backing westward across New England. As a result, we've been greeted by gray skies and a few light to moderate rain showers to start the day.

This image from the Cape Cod Weather.Net Zoomed RADAR shows the rain as it crossed the region around 6:30AM this morning. Over the course of the day today, drier air will slowly advance eastward from western New England, gradually eroding the western edge of the cloud deck and reducing the coverage of showers.

Consequently, while we've started gray and damp, the day should end on a drier and brighter note. In fact, assuming luck is on our side, sunshine should break through the overcast during the midday to early afternoon hours, boosting temperatures into the upper 60s to lower 70s.

As for the rest of the upcoming week, the same upper level storm center will slowly but surely lose its grip on our weather, allowing for a warming trend, especially during the second half of the week. Check back for updates as we close in on the 4th of July!
