The Day Is Not Lossed

Thursday July 2, 2009 08:38 AM

Despite the gray and miserable start to Thursday morning, don't give up on today and any outdoor plans you might have. The upper level storm system to our west has been spinning short waves (energy centers) around it's southern and eastern sides over the last few days.

One such piece of energy slid through the area yesterday afternoon, sparking severe thunderstorms and heavy rain. Behind it, skies cleared out late in the evening and remained mostly clear through midnight. Another energy center is crossing Southern New England this morning, bringing a new round of rain and thunder to the region, including here on the Cape.

However, similar to last evening, behind this latest piece of energy, clearing skies are trying to advance northward toward the area. Consequently, while it's dark and damp this morning, brighter times are not far away and partial sunshine will develop on the Cape by late morning. Keep an eye to the sky late this afternoon as another round of thunderstorms is possible during the evening hours.
