Strong Cold Front

Tuesday August 19, 2008 06:28 AM

The Tuesday morning surface analysis shows a well-defined cold front dropping southward across New England. This front is being propelled forward by an unseasonably chilly mid-August air mass. While it is tough to see - a close look shows widespread 40s across most of SE Canada this morning. As this strong front crosses our area it is likely to spread a band of clouds and perhaps some showers and thunderstorms over the Cape - the best opportunity for seeing some wet weather would be 1PM to 4PM. Given the strong contrast in air masses a few of the storms could be strong to severe so be sure to monitor the RADAR and the latest statements from the National Weather Service throughout the day.
