Unusually Mild

Posted on February 20, 2023

Despite record breaking cold temperatures – readings of -5 to -10F across a good chunk of the Cape the morning of February 4th and as low as -10 to -15F over inland locations in Southern New England – to start the month, February 2023 is likely to be remembered as a mild one.

Remarkably, we’ve managed to completely eliminate negative temperature departures for the month and are now running above average for February. Boston is now running at 4.9F above the 30 year average, Providence is 4.2F above average and Worcester is an astonishing 7.6F warmer than normal.

Here on the Cape, Hyannis has has recorded two days with high temperatures over 60F, 4 days between 50F and 60F and an additional 5 days with highs between 45F and 50F.
