If you are headed out tonight for some holiday shopping or just to enjoy Friday evening…plan for a cold night.
Temperatures today will only top out in the lower to middle 30s with a northerly wind persisting through the midday hours ( not nearly as gusty as yesterday). During the second half of the day that northerly breeze will abate, setting the stage for a very chilly night around the area.
The combination of clear skies, light winds and dry air will allow temperatures to fall quickly into the 20s near or just after sundown and readings will continue to fall through the night.
By morning, most of the Cape should awake to temperatures in the upper 10s and lower 20s, with a heavy frost. It’s possible some of the typically colder sheltered spots drop to the middle 10s.
