Cold Eases

While far from record breaking, the last several days were certainly quite cold around the area. Beginning last Wednesday the 17th, high temperatures at Hyannis were 27F, 31F, 33F, 22F and 24F. Overnight lows made it into the 10s on several occasions and we had some snow around the area at times to boot – a solid stretch of winter weather right smack in the heart of the winter season.

Looking ahead to this week (beginning today), the cold will ease significantly across the region. Highs today will get back into the 35 to 40F range and today is likely to be the chilliest day of the work week. Readings should approach 40F tomorrow, climb into the 40s on Wednesday and perhaps approach 50F Thursday and Friday. The downside? A lot of cloud cover through the week and multiple opportunities for precipitation – starting with a light snow event Tuesday night and followed by episodes of rain Wednesday, Thursday and perhaps again on Friday.
