Friday has dawned very similar to Thursday – with light rain and areas of fog and mist around the region. This go around, temperatures are a bit cooler as a surface boundary sagged south of the region yesterday, flipping winds to the northeast and pushing some cooler air back into the region. That said, it’s still plenty mild by late January standards and all of the official reporting stations in Southern New England are well above freezing, ensuring that rain is the precipitation-type region-wide.
Expect steady rain through the first half of the day today – some embedded pockets of heavier rain are possible during the mid morning hours. Rain should taper to mist and drizzle during midday but skies will remain gray for the remainder of the day. Temperatures won’t move a whole lot today – readings in the upper 30s and lower 40s at 6AM will hold steady or tick up a degree or two through the day.
