In an era of atypical weather – including yesterday’s storm which was quite unusual from a meteorological perspective – today’s weather is going to be almost exactly like we expect following a good-sized snowstorm – sunshine, deep blue skies, strong gusty northwest winds and cold temperatures.
Readings are near 30F this morning and really won’t move all that much through the day. The newly fallen snow and incoming cold air aloft will prevent temperatures from rising a whole lot, despite developing sunshine.
The bigger story of the day will be the wind. While it’s breezy this morning, winds aloft strengthen a bit through the day today and that will mean a strong gusty northwest wind from late morning throughout the afternoon. On the Outer Cape, wind gusts over 40 mph will be common, which will add a sting to the air but could also cause a few residual power disruptions as there is plenty of snow stuck to everything.
