A surge of very warm and humid air is lifting into the region today. Along and ahead of this air mass change, scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms are firing off across the Northeast. Model guidance is in fair agreement that this activity will be rather hit-or-miss through the day today but possible at just about any point. Consequently, don’t be shocked if a quick-moving tropical downpour passes through your neighborhood at some point over the course of the day today. Otherwise anticipate a changeable sky – times of blue sky and sunshine mixed with episodes of overcast conditions – with warm and muggy conditions as dewpoints hold in the 70s. A radar snapshot from 7:30 this morning shows the scattered nature of the downpours across the region. You can monitor the radar here.
