A strong ridge of high pressure anchored in place off the Eastern Seaboard is feeding anomalously warm and humid air northward into the region. Dewpoint values over the last several days have climbed into the middle and upper 70s, making things feel extremely uncomfortable at times. Unfortunately, there is no major relief expected until, at the earliest, this time next week. Dewpoints will remain at or above 70F for much of the next 7 days and will very likely climb to the middle and upper 70s at times during the week, with particularly hot and humid conditions possible during the first half of next week.
The values above (MOS – Model Output Statistics) are daily snapshots of various weather parameters over the next week. Notice guidance has dewpoints remaining very high through the extended forecast period.
There are signs that a cold front will advance into New England sometime during the second half of next week, perhaps bringing in some cooler and drier air. Time will tell.
