Southwest winds took hold Monday afternoon and are propelling milder air northward into the region. Temperatures held in the 30s Monday night and will jump quickly into the 40s Tuesday morning. While it won’t be outrageously warm by late February standards, it’ll certainly feel quite pleasant as readings approach 50F in many backyards – much warmer than it’s been over the last several weeks. The only caveat will be a busy southwest wind, which will blowing in off of very cold water over Nantucket Sound and Buzzards Bay – this will tend to keep the immediate southern shoreline of the Cape cooler and will likely knock us all back a few degrees during the afternoon.
