Another fast-moving storm system will slide by the region this weekend, bringing another round of unsettled weather. This go around, low pressure is likely to pass south of the Cape, meaning cold air will hang on throughout the storm and result in a mostly snow event. It’s possible winds off the ocean could bring in a touch of milder air toward Sunday morning, allowing for some sleet or drizzle to mix in with the snow…but by that time the majority of the heavy precipitation will be done. As of right now, it looks like a solid plowable snowfall event, with an areawide average of around 6 inches of snow possible…call it 4 to 8. The National Weather Service has posted a Winter Storm Watch for the area, which is likely to be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning over the next 24 hours.
