Be on the lookout for a period of very strong southwest winds this evening as Sunday’s storm system begins to depart the area. A powerful low level jet will cut across the area and is likely to bring some howling winds for a time near or shortly after dinnertime. Gusts over 50 mph are a good bet. Winds will then relax briefly, shift to the west and northwest, and howl for the remainder of the night and throughout the day tomorrow, with frequent gusts of 40 to 50 mph expected.
