A rather potent piece of upper level energy is going to rotate southward into the Northeast and New England over the next 48 hours, spawning a surface low pressure over the Mid-Atlantic and yielding a developing swath of heavy rain. That low pressure and its accompanying moisture shield will cut across our region later Friday and Friday night with a steady moderate to heavy rain falling over the area. Expect a good soaking rain (1″+) to fall across the Cape Friday night with a rumble of thunder or two possible as well. The worst of the weather will shift to our north Saturday morning, followed by a gradual improvement to the weather throughout the day on Saturday.
