A cold front crossed through the region overnight, shifting winds to the northwest and pushing a chilly air mass into New England. After climbing into the lower 60s yesterday, temperatures fell back into the 40s overnight and will struggle to recover today.
Despite a good amount of sunshine, midday and afternoon temperatures will only be in the 45 to 50F range around the Cape, which is several degrees cooler than average (56F). And add in a gusty northwest wind, and it’ll feel quite cold at times.
Looking ahead a bit – the overall weather pattern for the next 5 to 7 days will continue to favor cooler than average temperatures. A second shot of cold air will build in for the weekend and stick around into early next week.
