A cold front dropping southward through New England will pass over our area tonight and push offshore first thing on Friday. Along and ahead of this boundary, a widespread area of showers, downpours and embedded thunderstorms is crossing the Northeast and New England today (though the brunt of the activity is focused across Central and Northern New England for the time being). Later today and tonight this frontal zone and its associated wet weather will slide southward into Southern New England and bring us several hours of wet weather. Expect rain overnight tonight, with some localized downpours and possibly a rumble of thunder or two. While most of the wet weather will be done by sunrise, clouds and damp conditions will linger for a bit Friday morning before drier air takes hold.
