New Year’s Eve day is shaping up to be a nice day around the area with a good amount of sunshine, fairly light wind and temperatures approaching 50F. Dry weather should hang on through much of the evening, though clouds will gradually thicken and winds will freshen as the night moves along. As we near and pass midnight, showers will overspread the area and gradually transition to a steady rain. Some embedded downpours are a good bet late at night. On average 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain is expected.
