Some Rain Tonight

A large early Spring storm is sweeping eastward across the Nation today and will drag a cold front through New England tonight. This system – which has a history of producing strong winds and blizzard conditions across the Nation’s heartland and a large swath of severe weather over the Southern States – will bring us a round of wind-swept showers tonight into first thing Thursday morning. A few embedded downpours are a good bet and there could even be a rumble of thunder overnight. In addition, some strong southerly wind gusts to 40 mph are likely at times. The combination of low surface pressures, strong southerly flow and high astronomical tides coming off the recent new moon may result in a bit of minor coastal flooding and beach erosion along south-facing shores tonight – the National Weather Service did post a Coastal Flood Statement to address this concern.
