Low pressure will pass just to the south of the region tonight, bringing a round of cold rain to the area starting later today and lingering into Friday. The rain is likely to fall heavily at times overnight and that, combined with melting snow and blocked storm drains, is likely to result in plenty of standing water and some pockets of street flooding around the Cape. A solid 1 to 1.5 inches of rain is looking likely around the area. If you are traveling off-Cape – colder temperatures are lurking just to our northwest, so rain will eventually become an icy, sleety, snowy mix toward Boston and points north and west. Those cold temperatures may allow some sleet and fat, sloppy snowflakes to mix in at times here on the Cape.
