Wednesday morning’s visible satellite image tells today’s weather story quite nicely. You can see clear skies over much of the Northeast and New England with thicker cloud cover to the east of the region. Those thicker clouds are associated with Monday and Tuesday’s storm system (which brought some impressive rainfall totals to the area) and they are shifting eastward and away from the region. However, as of first thing Wednesday morning, the Cape was still under the influence of the system’s offshore circulation and was thus hanging on to some of that cloud cover and a gusty northerly wind (precipitation tapered off just after sunrise), especially on the Lower and Outer Cape. But with low pressure wobbling away, improving conditions will take hold locally and Wednesday will ultimately be remembered as a decent day. Sunshine will develop over the course of the morning, annoying winds will gradually diminish and temperatures will recover into the 70s this afternoon. So expect a much nicer second half of the day vs the morning hours.
