A powerful low pressure system is lifting northward up the Eastern Seaboard and will cross through New England today. Out ahead of this system very strong southeast winds are buffeting the coast from the Mid-Atlantic northward to New England. These winds will peak over our area during the midday hours – with southeast wind gusts frequently topping 50 mph and likely reaching 60 to 70 mph at times. Scattered tree and limb damage and power outages are a good bet.
