Soggy

Low pressure is meandering up the Eastern Seaboard and will pass southeast of Cape Cod this afternoon and evening. This storm center is bringing a large slug of moisture through our area, with a steady soaking rain in the cards for most of today.

Radar this morning shows plenty of wet weather around the region, with a steady light to moderate rain falling over most of Southern New England. Pockets of heavier rain were common over parts of Connecticut as well as over the waters south of the area. Surface observations showed mild temperatures for the season, with readings in the 40s and lower 50s. Coastal areas had a gusty northeast breeze.

The brunt of the moisture will move over our area through the first half of today, with precipitation transitioning to drizzle and scattered showers later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, while the low pressure area will shift north of us tonight, the upper level energy responsible for the surface storm will meander around the region Friday and Saturday, ensuring that any improvement to the weather will be slow at best. At the present time, meaningful clearing doesn’t look to take hold until Saturday night and Sunday.
