Showers, Then Colder

After a seasonably mild day today, a cold front will approach the area tonight and pass through the region first thing on Friday. Along and ahead of that frontal zone, clouds and a band of rain will spread across the area during the nighttime hours (we we’ll see a few sprinkles and light showers around for a time today but the main action is tonight), depositing about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain around the area. The cold front will slide offshore around sunrise Friday, flipping winds from the southwest to the north and ushering in another shot of chilly air to end the work week. While temperatures will be in the 40s for most of Friday, they’ll fall to the 20s Friday night and hold in the 30s on Saturday.
