A stalled out frontal zone and a couple of small waves of low pressure will produce cloudy skies and areas of rain Monday and Tuesday – with the worst of our weather likely to come tonight. The National Weather Service has posted a Flood Watch for Connecticut, Rhode Islands, SE Massachusetts and the Cape as some embedded downpours and thunderstorms are expected to develop within the overall shield of rain and may train over the same areas for a couple of hours at a time. When and exactly where that takes place will determine who gets an inch of rain versus several inches of rain and possibly some pockets of flash flooding (thus the Flood Watch). Overall a good soaking rain is expected with off and on showers today, tonight and part of Tuesday. The National Blend of Models shows a solid 1-2 inches of rain across the Cape with some pockets of 3-4 inches just over the bridges. At times, some products place that bullseye of higher totals further west in Connecticut, while others have placed that near or over the Cape. Monitor the radar.
