Cold air is building southward on gusty northerly winds today and will remain entrenched over the area through the end of the work week.
Temperatures today will make it back into the lower 40s but will be stuck in the 30s both Thursday and Friday. The combination of strong high pressure to our northwest and an offshore storm system will enduce a long fetch of cold northerly winds across the region, a “perfect” trajectory to maximize any potential cold from eastern Canada.
A tighter pressure gradient will develop over the area late tonight and into Thursday as high pressure attemps to build east and the offshore storm attempts to rotate westward a bit, meaning it will turn rather windy over the area. Northerly wind gusts over 30 mph are likely, which will make it feel quite cold.
There’s a small chance for an ocean effect snow flurry as the cold deepens over the area on Thursday.
