This is why March is the worst. After a cold and windy winter-like finish to the work week, we get to enjoy a big soaking rainstorm Saturday and Saturday night…followed by windy and chilly weather Sunday through Tuesday.
One positive: Timing looks such that we may squeeze in some dry weather, or at least just have to deal with some intermittent light rain and drizzle, during Saturday morning. Initially, the worst of the rain will be focused off-Cape, so if we’re lucky at least part of the day will be salvageable for some outdoor stuff.
However, as the day progresses deeper moisture will shift eastward across Southern New England and a steady, heavy rain will develop over the area over the course of the afternoon and evening. Downpours are likely later Saturday and into Saturday night with a soaking 1 to 2 inches of rain expected.
The National Weather Service has posted a Flood Watch, with the anticipation for some pockets of street flooding/basement flooding.
