A storm system taking shape over the central part of the nation today will lift slowly north and eastward over the next couple of days, bringing us an extended period of unsettled weather and unseasonably chilly temperatures.
For us here on the Cape, the worst of the weather comes later Wednesday and throughout Wednesday night as a soaking rain, likely heavy at times, pushes across the area and is accompanied by howling onshore winds. A solid one to two inches of rain (yet again) appears likely and wind gusts will exceed 50 mph Wednesday night. In fact, a few gusts to 60 to 65 mph are possible and that may result in some pockets of tree and limb damage and some minor power disruptions.
If you happen to be heading off-Cape toward central and northern parts of New England – prepare accordingly as this system is destined to be a snow-maker…with heavy wet snow expected across a large portion of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
