A couple of waves of low pressure are going to ride by the area over the next 24 hours, bringing a period of ugly weather to the Cape.
Sprinkles and light rain showers will overspread the area Sunday afternoon, with precipitation gradually transitioning to a steady rain Sunday evening. Rain is likely to continue off and on through the remainder of Sunday night and linger into Monday morning. Over an inch of rain is looking like a good bet at this juncture.
All the while, colder air will infiltrate the region as gusty southerly winds swing around to the north, cooling the atmosphere and eventually introducing frozen precipitation into the equation Monday. With that in mind, Monday’s weather is looking pretty blah with a stiff north and northeast wind, temperatures falling into the 30s and off on on showers of rain and rain mixed with snow.
The simulated radar image from the 3km NAM model shows steady rain over the area tonight.
