A weak backdoor cold front crossed the Cape today, yielding one of the more impressive local temperature gradients you’ll see. During early afternoon, temperatures on the Outer Cape had fallen into the 50s with a northeast wind blowing in off the cold Gulf of Maine. Meanwhile, south and west of the front, temperatures had soared into the 60s and 70s through the morning and neared 80F by early afternoon. A remarkable temperature difference over a very small area.
