Visible satellite imagery this morning tells the weather story quite nicely. Cloudless skies over much of the eastern two-thirds of the nation are indicative of a sprawling upper level ridge of high pressure. This upper air ridge is bringing sunny and unseasonably hot conditions to the Midwest, Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic and, beginning tomorrow, the Northeast.
Here in New England, a fizzling thunderstorm complex is cutting through the region Sunday morning, bringing clouds and some morning wet weather in spots. This moisture is soon to be replaced by rising heights and clearing skies as the ridge axis shifts eastward. Dangerous, mid-summer-like, heat will overspread the area for the first half of the work week, peaking on Tuesday.
