Wednesday has started out fairly pleasant – some partial sunshine and seasonably mild – but will end rather dreary. The combination of a southward moving frontal zone…a backdoor cold front…and moisture riding eastward into the region, will mean thickening clouds, developing rain and falling temperatures. Expect showers to develop through the day today and for off and on rain and drizzle to persist through the night tonight and into Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will be stuck in the upper 30s and lower 40s with a chilly northeast wind. You can see the approaching backdoor front nicely during midday on the short-range HRRR model.
