A September-like air mass has built into the Northeast and New England. Dew point values are in the 40s and 50s across the area and will remain low into the weekend. The result is some very nice weather to close out the work week, with sunny skies, mild temperatures and unseasonably comfortable air expected Friday and Saturday. This time of year – in the heart of the summer season – it’s not too common for cooler and drier Canadian air masses to infiltrate the region and stick around. More often than not, dew points sit in the 60s and 70s during late July and any relief from high humidity is short-lived. While somewhat more humid air will gradually push into the area later in the weekend and into early next week, nothing too soupy is expected for the next several days. You can see on this morning’s dew point analysis that tropical-like humidity has been pushed well south of the region and comfortable air encompasses much of the northeastern quarter of the nation.
