A potent low pressure center and its attendant cold front will cut through the region tonight, enhanced by some moisture from distant Hurricane Melissa, bringing us a period of stormy weather tonight. Expect a wind-driven heavy rain for several hours tonight, with 1 to 2 inches of rain a good bet around the area. Brief pockets of street flooding are possible here and there and it’ll overall just be an ugly night to be out and about. Strong east winds, gusting close to 40 mph, are likely tonight and a second, stronger, round of wind is anticipated for Friday (quite gusty for trick-or-treating).
